A defective copy of the most complete edition of Castillos printed works, in marbled wrappers lacking the title page & prelims and commencing with a "Preface to the First Edition" [though a reproduction of the title page is included] small 8vo 374pps Irish born poet & singer songwriter Castillo spent most of his life in the North Yorkshire village of Lealholm and died in nearby Pickering.This collection contains his best known poems "Auld Isaac" and "The Steeplechase" and " A life of the author written by himself". His work is often credited as having rescued the ancient language of the Dales. Reproductions in numerous digitised versions abound but the original editions are rare. Seller Inventory # 6329
