Add to basketAllen & Unwin, London, 1967, 1968, 1969, all first editions, first impressions; large 8vo,160 x 240mm; three vols covering 1872-1914, 1914-1944, and 1944-1967; pp 230, 268 and 232 respectively; index in each volume; the dust wrapper spine to volume 1 is almost completely bleached and there's very slight abrasion to the edges of the dust wrapper but otherwise everytthing, and particularly the volumes themselves, are in very good condition. . . . . . . Russell died in May 1972, aged 97, and so these three volumes cover almost his entire life. Vol 1 deals with his childhood but also his outstanding work on mathematics, logic and meaning; the second details both his political activities during the first and second wars but also his period of greater focus on social matters and his time in the US; vol 3 then covers his continuing political activisim focusing on nuclear disarmament, his social writings, retrospective and more general writings on philosophy and finally his move to Penrhydeudraeth in north Wales and his final, and by all accounts, deeply satisfying marriage to Edith. NOTE: on account of the size and weight of these volumes (2.105kg in all) the postage cost will be MORE than the default amount (which must be) shown and will be advised before an order is confirmed.
