About this Item
Ex-Library Brunswick Library Association with the usual markings. The books are bound in burgundy color cloth with spines covered with burgundy color heavy tape. Top edges gilt. Frontis-pieces with tissue guards intact in both volumes. Deckled fore-edges. The corners are bumped. Vol.I is in fair condition - the back hinge repaired with linen library tape. Vol.II is in poor condition -spine cracked and come undone, text block has free of the fright and spine covering, but the sewn text block itself is firm. The back cover is still attached. Otherwise, the books are clean and unmarked. Illustrated with photographs in black and white. The author was an 1850 graduate of Bowdoin college and of West Point. In Vol.I the author describes the operation to remove his arm that was injured in the Battle of Fair Oaks. Suitable for re-binding. Seller Inventory # ABE-1712156454077
