80 p. 17 cm. 20 partial colour plates. Grey cloth hardcover in mylar-covered dustjacket. Jacket has chips at top and much of spine missing. Ink inscription on front free endpaper. Susan the Huntress plate loosening and Basset Hounds owned by King Edward VII detached. Some foxing. Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) was known for his illustrations and paintings of the English countryside, animals, and the sportsman s lifestyle, especially fox hunting. He also painted dogs, his own as well as others. This book tells the humorous stories of his models, both professional and amateur - so well that the reader actually knows Cracker, Susan, Jemima, and Von Tirpitz. Seller Inventory # 125590
