Coloured title-page and coloured dedication to Queen Victoria, 14 unnumbered leaves in black-letter, ruled in red, 47 chromolithographic heraldic plates. Maroon cloth over beveled boards, with dulled gilt decoration and titles to front board. Edges and corners carefully strengthened. All edges gilt. A very good to fine copy 'Albert H. Warren (1830-1911) was a versatile designer. Proficient as aa painter in watercolours and oils, he was also an architectural draughtsman, a chromolithographer, an expert in book illumination, an art-instructor and a freelance practitioner whose work included the design and making of picture frames. His most enduring achievements, however, are in the field of book-binding, where he made a significant contribution to the design of cloth casings of the middle of the century. Warren also published work with the Chiswick Press, notably Arms of the Episcopates of Great Britain and Ireland (1868), in which he displayed a series of armorial designs in the style of the Gothic revival.
