Published as part of The Library of Entertaining Knowledge, which was a series published by Charles Knight between 1829 and 1838. Written by Scottish naturalist James Rennie, who specialised in insects, birds and botany. This work provides a comprehensive history on a number of different birds, including their habits, eggs and a description. Illustrated throughout with charming vignettes to accompany the text. Contemporary ink inscription of J. Dawson, dated 1950. In a half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the extremities, spine and joints. Front joint is a little cracked to the head and tail. Ink inscription to the front paste down. Front hinge is a little strained, but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound.
