Small Folio (283x190 mm), 17th century vellum rebacked, with manuscript title on spine, a good fresh copy. Text inroman type on 37 lines, spaces for capital letters, ff. nn. 300 (including first original blank), inside a fresh copy printed on thick paper, with quite wide margins, and with contemporary manuscript marginalia. EDITIO PRINCEPS. Celerius had previously printed books in Venice and Padua and after a short stay in Treviso, where this was his first publication; he resumed printing in Venice at the end of1480until 1486. Lampugnino Birago, a former pupil of Francesco Filelfo in MIlan, completed his substantial translation in 1468-1469 and dedicated it to Pope Paul II, for whom he had also translated some moral works of Plutarch and Basil the Great's Hexaemeron.
