From the Publisher
The Ancient Ones begins its journey with the Inka of Peru. From the birth place of the Sun in Lake Titikaka, through Tiwanaku, Machu Pijchu, Qosqo (Cusco), P'isaq, Ollantaytambu and encounter the history of a civilization through its orial traditions. The journey continues with the Maya of the Yucatan and Guatemala. Following the mystery through the Popol Vuh, we witness the ponderous sculptures of the Olmec, and travel to the jungle pyramids of Palenque, Uxmal, Tulum, Kabah, and Tikal. We progress through the trial and tribulations of Quetzalcoatl as it appears in the architecture of Chichen Itza as the Maya god K'uK'ul Kan. The book completes its journey by honoring the Cliffdwellers of the North America South-West. From the Monument Valley to Canyon de Chelly, Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon and Bandelier. Three years in the making, The Ancient Ones presents seventy-two stunning photographs in black and white. The accompanying text reveals the story of emergence and adventure of the gods and heros as they were first told around campfires many centuries ago. The book is beautifully printed in duetone by EBS in Verona, Italy.
