First edition. The first volume of the diaries which eventually ran to twelve. Green paper boards with title in gold to spine slight crease to spine but in very good condition. Pictorial end papers. Portrait frontispiece and pictorial endpapers. Dust jacket designed by Reynolds Stone, worn at top and slightly sunned but otherwise in very good condition. Internally pages bright and cleanright, crisp and clean. The unclipped dustwrapper (�6.00 net stated) is Near Fine: bright and vibrant; very slightly sunned to the spine with a little rubbing to its head; presented in a removable, archival-quality Brodart protective cover. We are two bibliophiles currently selling some of the books from the collection of the actor Paul Scofield. This includes many first editions signed and given to him by the authors as well as working copies of the many plays he performed in. There is a nice collection of books relating to his role as Sir Thomas More in the 1966 play 'A Man for all Seasons' We've tried to give as much detail as possible on the condition of our books but are more than happy to send more photos if required.
