One of the Many "Reductions" of Dugald Stewart's Thought Published in America.An American printing of a reduction of the first four (of seven) chapters in Stewart's Elements of the Philosophy of the Human Mind. It was common practice in the US to print up abbreviated versions of texts - most especially those by Stewart which were tremendously popular in the schools. Missing here (as published) are the final three chapters on "The Association of Ideas", "Memory" and "Imagination". contemporary half-leather with marbled boards. Spine a bit worn and starting to split along the front 2" edge. Still, overall the binding is in rather nice shape. Interior a bit foxed with a small chip out of final blank endpaper. A nice copy.
