A limited edition on Japanese vellum limited to twenty-five copies of which this is No. 24. Published in The York Library series. Bound in vellum with gilt decoration. Top edge gilt, frontis engraving of Spenser with tissue guard intact. Page edges tanned. Inscription on front endpaper: "Robert Vaughan Johnson for 22nd Feb. 1905". "EX LIBRIS TYNDALE-HARDY" is embossed on front free endpaper. Pp 61-69 are marked where flowers (?) have been pressed between the pages. R. Brimley Johnson established a small publishing business in London and Edinburgh in 1900 specialising in early literature. A very scarce item. More photographs available on request.
