Green textured cloth, with blind-tooled borders on front and rear, and gilt on spine. Gilt at spine heel somewhat dulled. A little age-darkened on spine, tips slightly bumped. A couple small, superficial tears in paper over front hinge, but still tight. Stamped on title page. An early example of British support for the Confederacy, The American Union argues the validity and inevitability of secession almost as staunchly as it condemns the practice of slavery.
