four volumes, modern half-leather over marbled boards, raised bands, leather labels, advertisement leaf volume II, scattered spotting and off-setting, ownership signature at head of title-pages, minor fraying to leading edge of two leaves volume IV, a nice set. according to Rothschild there were two impressions of the first edition, one in December 1751, the other in January 1752 but no distinguishing characteristics have been recorded; in this copy page 221 is incorrectly numbered 211 in volume II and page 39 is unnumbered in volume III; first edition; 285, 262, 323 and 296 pages Rothschild 853.
