Some mild foxing to endpapers and contents, edges uncut, slight loss at top edge of margins on page 113/4 due to being opened carelessly when still unopened, original yellow illustrated floral cloth with titles on cover and gilt embossed titles on the spine, bevelled edges, with the lightest of rubbing at extremes, charcoal endpapers, no inscriptions. Octavo. 20 x 13 cm. *Lovely bright boards. a delightful copy suitable for a presentation copy. NOTE: Jefferies' final novel, Amaryllis at the Fair brings together many of his views on rural life and contemporary society. Jefferies died at Goring-by-Sea in Sussex aged just thirty-eight of TB. We are a small, single-owner business. We have been operating on and off since 1977 and our stock is varied, leaning towards antiquarian and 19th century with the addition of original aquatint and lithographic, or woodcut engravings. Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
