Apparent first printing as 1880 listed on copyright page with no additional dates listed in book. . The book was given to Joseph C. Utley by his Auntie Ida on Christmas 1892, after which Joseph signs his name and dates it Christmas 1892. To make sure no one is confused as to the ownership of the book there are four small stampings with the name Joseph Utley otherwise no other markings in the book. A tinge of page browning; there is some light wearing at the extremities. At bottom of the spine, there is a small edge tear and some fraying as is there at the top. Corners bumped and frayed but not a major distraction. The front board is beginning to loosen but book very much intact and solid. Decorated end pages. Boards are ivory cloth with attractive black silver and burgundy decorations and some soiling. Unusual shaded area on back which is difficult to determine. Despite the conditions described, it a very attractive book and probably one of the best ones available in the first printing. Please email for additional images.
