[minor shelfwear to book, shallow dent in bottom edge of front cover; the jacket has a few tiny nicks along the top edge, and a couple of pull-tears in the middle of the rear panel]. (pattern diagrams) The author, "jack as well as master of many trades," has here written a book that "deals with that type of grading which has been called 'Chinatown,' Stack, Mass and Wholesale grading. In essence it enables the cutter to make different sizes with one cutting operation, thus insuring uniformity of pattern between sizes, and also economy of operation since only one set up is required to cut all sizes." Along with his bona fides as "a practicioner of the art [and] as a teacher and lecturer," he is also credited with having invented "a fascinating device called the 'Triangle Square,' which divides any distance into any number of equal lengths," and to prove that there was apparently no end to this guy's talents, he "must also be credited with the drawing of all the illustrations in this and his other Fairchild books." (NOTE that although "Simplified" is part of the title on the front of the dust jacket, and is included in the book's title in the rear jacket blurb which is quoted above, it doesn't appear on the actual title page -- hence my employment of the brackets.
