*** BOOK in good + clean tight and unmarked condition. Publisher's original pale beige buckram boards with gilt title on spine. 254 pages, frontispiece, 91 further b&w illustrations and a double page map. Fore and lower edge untrimmed. Some spotting to foreedge. *** DUST JACKET in poor condition as it is missing more than half the spine. The upper and lower faces are OK, but the whole thing was extensively repaired (no adhesive tape used) before being enclosed in a Trimsleeve sleeve. *** CONTENTS: The author was a Dutch diplomat and explorer who made two journeys in this remote and forbidding area, in 1931 and 1939. It was during this period that the Ingrams Plan for the Hadhramaut was put in place to ensure peace.
