First Edition Thus. Octavo. Fine Contemporary Binding by Brentano's. 3/4 leather and marbled paper boards with gilt lettering and embellishments. Marbled end papers. In French, the 1731 novel by Provost with annotations by noted scholar Gautheir-Ferrieres. This is the novel on which Puccini based his opera "Manon." Very Good; corners bumped and some discoloration to leather; rubbing at edges and spine. Pages darkened at edges, but otherwise clean.
