A first US paperback edition with a stated First Printing May 1974. In very good condition for its age. Tanning to pages making them rather brown but still eminently readable. Tape residue to first and last pages. Shadow of sleeve on inside of front and rear covers. Reading crease down front and rear cover adjacent to spine. The covers are showing some signs of wear to the extremities. Book III of the Struggle for Freedom in the World of Durdane. SYNOPSIS: "The wild land of Caraz. Far to the south, beyond the swampy middle region and beyond the ken of most people of Shant, lay Caraz, the wild continent peopled by exiles, nomads, and slave traders. It was from this southern wilderness that new rumors began to filter north, tales that told of the return of the Roguskhoi, of magic airships that landed at night to collect roundups of slaves, and of other ships that came to engage them in fierce battles. If Etzwane guessed right, behind these rumors lay the dreaded presence of the Asutra, who knew how to combine the superhuman strength of one race with the interplanetary intelligence of another. If they weren't stopped, all of Durdance would become a vast, helpless fishpond for the enslavers. Etzwane had once singlehandedly broken the yoke around men's necks. Could he go it alone this time?"
