Hardback. The author has created a compelling brew of mystery, crime and science as she reveals the details of high-tech murder investigations. Using actual cases from across the country, the author shows how Canadian scientists, both inside and outside forensic laboratories, are revolutionising the age-old task of solving murders through a multi-disciplinary team approach that brings doctors, dentists and even university professors to the front lines of homicide investigations. Find out how a forensic anthropologist recreated a murder by retrieving thousands of charred bone fragments from a well-used firepit; how a forensic entomologist discredited a killer's alibi by cultivating the maggots from his victims' decomposing bodies; and how a forensic dentist identified a child murderer from a single bite mark. A behind-the-scenes look at what motivates today's new scientific sleuths; why a crime-scene specialist went to art school before joining the RCMP; why a young PhD student accepted a position as Canada's first full-time forensic entomologist; and why a forensic pathologist would rather work with corpses than live patients. With Index. 207pp. 8vo. h/back. From the library of true- crime writer, Wilfred Gregg, with his personal b/plate. F. in f. pcdw.…
