FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (21 cm.) unpaged [56p.]. Profusely illustrated with full color, full-page illustrations on every other page by S.B. Pearse. Color pictorial endpapers. Color pictorial onlay to front cover. Red cloth with black letters on the spine. Running black and white images at the top and bottom of text pages. Born in 1878, S.B. Pearse {Susan Beatrice, 1878-1980] was a British illustrator who studied at the Royal College of Art and contributed pictures to "Little Folks" and "Playbox". She is best known for creating the character Amerliaranne and illustrated all of the books in the Ameliaranne series, which were written by different authors. [biographical note includes information from Mother Goose's Attic] Very minor wear to extremities, with nothing rubbed through, shaken, illustrations in fine condition, pictorial onlay in fine condition, cloth clean, else very good to near fine. Jacket slightly tattered with one inch missing at top of spine and 1/4 inch missing at bottom, but mostly all there. Seller Inventory # 005188
