undated c1883-1896. 15 pages colour illustrations with text, Condition Fair to Very Good. Die cut B Binding front cover Paperback very thin board on linen, Fair for a large children s book, edge wear loss inscribed Albert Bra--- Oct 1896 , , rear cover is very thin board (NOT on linen) with edge loss and invisible tape repair. Contents good with minor dirt, inside rear cover with edge loss. Was unable to find another copy as Warne published many books titled ABC, but this has 14 pages paper on linen, rear of last page on linen is blank linen, then inside rear cover is illustrated with text A and B. .Starts with one page with Bessie and Bobbie learning their A, B, C., followed by 7 pages of amusing alphabets, then 5 pages A for Alligator to Z for Zany, then a page with a Capital and small letters alphabets, then blank then inside rear cover is illustrated with text A is for Arrival of Barnham s Big show etc. and B is for Bears from Russia. etc that is not in keeping with the rest of the book. The Text looks like for another ABC book and the fact printed inside the rear cover that is just thin card, not on linen and therefore breakable. It could even be possible the rear cover should have been glued to the blank linen page, therefore covering the inside rear covers illustrated text? Front cover printed with Frederick Warne & Co., London and New York Mounted on Linen Untearable reg No.167043 Chromolith in Holland by Emrik and Binger 21a Berners Str London . So an oddity that looks as even maybe a unique printers/ binders mistake. Please see our other children s books including movable & some very rare tiles. Size: 25 x 30.5cm.approx.
