Rare first printing of Edgar Allan Poe s short story Mellonta Tauta printed in the 1849 January-June bound volume of Godey s Lady s Book. The book is generally in good condition with some signs of wear and age. The covers have some moderate scuffing and wear. The interior is toned from age with some occasional foxing, mild staining & grubbiness. One of the black and white plates has a decent sized chip out of it and one of the double page music plates has some chipping & tattering at the margins. Along with that there is likely the occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a small chip or tear, creased page corner, etc. Generally though, it's a good copy.
