Offered is the 1946 Report of the Suffolk County Mosquito Control (formerly: Extermination) Commission published out of Yaphank, Long Island, New York. A stapled report measuring 6" by 9" and containing 24 pages including front and rear covers. The Contents are: list of the Executive Board; Report For Fiscal Year Beginning November 1, 1945, Ending October 31, 1946 - comprising the text of a letter to the Board of Supervisors, Suffolk County, New York, from LeRoy W. Ruland, President of the Suffolk County Mosquito Control Commission; Introduction (which begins, "Overall mosquito control throughout Suffolk County was successful this year, despite the adverse conditions which existed during the summer months. As shown in Figure No. 3, precipitation was excessive, especially during the month of August. Adequate labor was extremely difficult to obtain, and the spray gangs were reduced to two, three, or four men, compared to the six and eight man gangs used in pre-war years. The condition of the county-wide system of ditches, which could not be maintained satisfactorily during the war years, made adequate drainage of many of the salt marshes impossible.
