Two notes on imprinted letterheads, one from the Stone offices at the Park Row Building, NY and the other from his home in East Orange, NJ. Undated, from NYC. "My Dear Mrs. Morrow: There is a rumor afloat that you are interested in and a collector of paper dolls. Is the rumor well founded? I am afflicted with this same trouble and if - why, it would be most pleasant to talk it over with you…." 19 Feb 1935, NJ: "…My Dear Mrs. Morrow: Many thanks for your letter of the 10th re paper dolls and valentines. I am pleased that some of the old paper dolls are being preserved, and by those who made them. The homemade ones are the charming ones. I am glad you saw my show. Re Valentines. Mrs. Stone has about 50 on exhibition at the NY Public Library Children's Room this month…My knowledge of your paper dolls came through someone who heard you speak of them at the Morgan Library, when Philip Hofer spoke there one evening…" Wilbur Macey Stone was for many years Secretary of the Carteret Book Club (Newark, NJ), responsible for club correspondence & publications; he also authored bibliographic studies of ephemeral material, especially concerning the art & artists of bookplates and children's books. Both notes approx. 5 3/4" x 6 3/4" size, handwritten on light blue paper; with the mailing envelope from the NJ address present. Light wear, in very good condition. Seller Inventory # 028265
