xii, 644 pages. Decorative cover. Illustrations. References. Appendices, including Conference Photos and Author Index. The Editor was associated with the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, Stanford University. The following topics were addressed at the workshop: Quantum Fluctuations in Beam Dynamics, Photo-Electron Interaction in Beam Production, Cooling, Monitoring; Beam Phenomena Under Strong EM Fields; Astro-Bearm Physics and Laboratory Astrophysics; and Quantum Methodologies in Beam Physics. This proceedings volume records the advances in quantum beam physics since the first meeting in Monterey (1998). In addition to further progress regarding quantum effects in beam dynamics, photon-electron interaction in beam handling, beam phenomena under strong fields, and quantum methodologies in beam physics, the newly introduced topics -- the physics of condensed beams as well as astro-beam physics and laboratory astrophysics -- have also been well documented by world experts in the field. This book is a valuable reference to those who are interested in the joint frontiers of beam physics and other fields such as astrophysics and condensed matter physics. The 18th Advanced ICFA Beam Dynamics Workshop on ''Quantum Aspects of Beam Physics'' was held from October 15 to 20, 2000, in Capri, Italy. This was the second workshop under the same title. The first one was held in Monterey, California, in January, 1998. Following the footstep of the first meeting, the second one in Capri was again a tremendous success. About 70 colleagues from astrophysics, atomic physics, beam physics, condensed matter physics, particle physics, and general relativity gathered to update and further explore the topics covered in the Monterey workshop. Namely, the following topics were actively discussed: (1) Quantum Fluctuations in Beam Dynamics; (2) Photon-Electron Interaction in Beam handling; (3) Physics of Condensed Beams; (4) Beam Phenomena under Strong Fields; (5) Quantum Methodologies in Beam Physics. In addition, there was a newly introduced subject on Astro-Beam Physics and Laboratory Astrophysics. …
