Language: English. Approximately 244 pages. English: Print-on-demand reprint. Original edition : 1911. Text in English. This influential work by Henry Frederick Cope (1870-1923) examines the spiritual formation and religious education of laymen, offering a comprehensive framework for their role in faith communities. Published in 1911, the book reflects the theological debates and social concerns of the Progressive Era, emphasizing the importance of systematic religious training for men outside clerical roles. Cope's approach combines practical guidance with theological reflection, making this work a valuable resource for historians of religion, theologians, and scholars of early 20th-century American Christianity. The text addresses both individual spiritual development and the institutional structures needed to support laymen's religious engagement, providing insights into the evolving relationship between laity and religious institutions during this period.
