Item description from seller

4to (220 x 280 mm). 20 separately issued reports with titles and institutional logos; various paginations. With black-and-white maps, photographs and charts throughout. In original comb-bound wrappers. Twenty technical reports in Arabic and/or English, prepared for the First Symposium on the Future of Water Resources in the Gulf Region and Arabian Peninsula, convened in Kuwait in early 1981. - The set brings together national and specialist studies from ministries and universities in Bahrain (Ministry of Works, Electricity and Water), Iraq (Ministry of Irrigation and Basrah University), Kuwait (Ministry of Agriculture and Water), Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, covering rainfall, groundwater assessment and recharge, irrigation networks, urban growth, and the rapidly expanding desalination sector. Several papers focus on Saudi Arabia's large-scale desalination programme, while others document district-level hydrological problems (including the Zubair region and Babylon province) alongside regional syntheses on Arabian Peninsula rainfall and groundwater prospects. - The symposium belongs to the brief moment of intensified technocratic cooperation immediately preceding the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council in May 1981, and reflects a contemporary push for shared regional expertise in resource planning. Issued under the auspices of Kuwait University's Journal of the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies (founded in 1975), the papers are representative of early, locally produced Gulf scientific and policy literature, seldom preserved complete as a set. - Some general yellowing; occasional ink underlining and marginal notes; light wear to comb-bound wraps. Generally very well preserved. - Presentation ink stamps (institutional ownership, unidentified). …

As members of the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), the Verband der Antiquare Österreichs (Austrian association of antiquarian booksellers), as well as the Verband deutscher Antiquare e.V. A large proportion of our customers is made up of institutions, including renowned international universities and major state libraries. We keep contact with our private customers at international book fairs and through our online catalogues. You are welcome to visit us on our business premises from Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM. We are happy to take buying orders for the important book auctions in Germany and Austria, which we attend regularly. We dedicate special attention to the estates and archives of important personalities of the arts and sciences in European and world history. Through specially prepared archive catalogues we have been able to sell the archives of Viktor Léon (librettist, 1859-1940), Leo Fall (operetta composer, 1873-1925), Lotte Lehmann (singer, 1888-1976), Otto Tressler (actor, 1871-1865) and Max Reinhardt (director, 1873-1743), as well as the last privately owned important original manuscripts by Ludwig Wittgenstein (philosopher, 1889-1951). Along the lines of this specialization our buying policy concentrates especially on these fields.…
