Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Brown hardcvoer with gold print on spine. Print on spine is a little faded. Bumping with wrkling along edges of spine causing a few small closed tears and some light fraying. Spine is a bit faded. General shelf wear to boards. PO's name with date (1885) on ffep along with price and date in pencil. Pages are tight; clean/unmarked with age browning. 814 pages. Illustrations by the author and Richard Doyle. Only print info stated is "1884" on bottom of title page. Given the age of the book, it is probably better than Very Good condiiton. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Boards show edge and corner bumps/wear along with chipping to spine edges. Rear exterior hinge as a couple holes near the top section and cloth is cracked new the top. Despite the exterior issues the Interior binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates found, no library markings present. Pages are toned due to age and scattered foxing is present though and pages and pastedowns are quite severe. In addition, pages 65-68 have a very small corner chair the bottom outside corner which is well outside of the text areas.

Vol. XIV. Pages are moderately tanned, but text remains clear. Visible marking to some pages throughout, but text is not affected. Noticeable water stain to fore edge of textblock. Binding is firm. Boards have moderate shelf-wear, with noticeable corner bumping and some scuffing to edges. Spine and edges are moderately tanned, with minor fraying to ends. Gilt remains bright. Some small noticeable marks to boards.
