(10534) HEAVY Hardback. Overseas buyers will require extra postage. 297 pages. 26 full page engravings. Fine in sage green cloth with gilt lettering on front board and to spine, in a fair unclipped d.w. showing wear to top and bottom of spine with pieces missing. No markings or inscriptions. Georg Christof Lichtenberg, a German professor of physics, shared with Hogarth and inexhaustible interest in human nature, especially as exhibited in its less exalted specimens. On his two visits to England in 1770-1771 and 1774-1775 it was the raucous colour and vigor of the teeming London streets that held him facinated - the same crowds which had served as models for Hogarth's famous engravings. A tight clean copy.
