The cover displays fine gilt tooling, raised bands, and a leather label on the spine. Interior pages are clean, with only modest external wear consistent with age.

Miniature, bound in a full navy-blue morocco, also around the turn-of-the-century, by Riviere (stamped by Riviere at the first blank endpaper as well). Beautiful gilt-tooling along the panel borders, 5 raised bands, leather author label, intricate, striking gilt-tooling within the compartents. Clean, very well-preserved and Near Fine. 64mo, all edges gilt. Color title page and frontispiece. "Passages from Dr. Samuel Johnson -- Selected and Arranged by Norman J. Davidson".
