Large format hardcover, quarto size volume bound in dark forest green cloth and lettered in gold on spine on front cover, housed in original onion skin dust-jacket. 192 pages. Introductory essay by Quentin Anderson; text notes by Stephen Railton. Illustrated with thirty-five facsimile pages of the manuscript and six portraits of Whitman. First edition. No previous ownership marks. A clean, square fresh and like new copy. Extremely scarce onion skin wrapper intact with only minor wear to tips and small rubbed spot to rear panel. As new in a near fine wrapper.
