First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by Wodehouse to his biographer and bibliographer Jasen on the front free endpaper, "To David from Plum, P. G. Wodehouse". Only Wodehouse's close friends and family knew him as "Plum". David A. Jasen (1937-2022) was the dedicatee of Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves (1963). A ragtime scholar and performer, he shared a passion for music with Wodehouse, a famed musical lyricist. Wodehouse edited and wrote the introduction for this collection of stories by such fellow humourists as Robert Benchley, Leo Rosten, and S. J. Perelman. Jasen p. 257; McIlvaine B10a. Octavo. Illustrations throughout. Original black cloth, spine lettered in silver. With dust jacket. Minor rubbing to spine lettering, spine ends bumped, wear to one lower corner; jacket slightly rubbed but bright, ends and corners chipped, couple of short closed tears to edges, price-clipped: a very good copy in like jacket.
