Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Very good condition for age. Leather bound with early 20th century bookplate. Front hinge cracked, a chip to spine leather about 3 cm down, but very good clean book in handmade leather with gilt ruling and title to spine. Clean inside.

12mo. 6.75 x 4.25 inches. 303 + [9] pp. index. Bound in contemporary calf; spine in compartments with raised bands, decorated gilt, with contrasting title label, gilt. Some age related wear, but otherwise a very good crisp copy. Stamped ownership label fixed to first free endpaper and repeated on second. Illustrated by engraved frontispiece and vignette title. Decorated by head and tailpiece vignettes and by initials. The fourth volume of a mid-eighteenth century reprint of The Spectator, by Joseph Addison (1672-1799) and others, originally published, 1711-12. The set was first published by Tonson in 1747.
