Numerosas ilustraciones en el texto por Léon Lhermitte, pintor y grabador nacido en Mont-Saint-Père (Aisne) en 1844, muerto en Paris en 1925. Fué el fondador de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts. Tuvo una muy grande reputacion en su tiempo como intérprete muy exacto y veraz de la vida campesina.
