Cover Art: Paul Kidby (illustrator). 1st Edition. © 2009: 37th in the 'Discworld' series of books. 1st edition, 1st printing:- Synopsis: Football has come to the ancient city of Ankh-Morpork - not the old-fashioned, grubby pushing and shoving, but the new, fast football with pointy hats for goalposts and balls that go gloing when you drop them. And now the wizards of Unseen University must win a football match without using magic, so they're going to try everything else. The prospect of the Big Match draws in a likely lad with a wonderful talent for kicking a tin can, a maker of jolly good pies, a dim but beautiful young woman, who might just turn out to be the greatest fashion model there has ever been, and the mysterious Mr Nutt. (No one knows much about Mr Nutt, not even Mr Nutt, which worries him too). As the match approaches, four lives are entangled and changed for ever. Because the thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football. Here we go! Here we go! Here we go!:- (original cost £18.99).

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Published by Doubleday, London; 2009. 400pp. 8vo. First edition, first impression. Condition: Near Fine/Very Good+. A beautiful example of this first edition, the thirty-seventh from the Discworld series. Bound in it s original brown boards with gilt title to the spine, the binding is square and tight, and is in very smart and collectible condition. |There is some bumping to the spine ends, but it is otherwise free from marks or damage. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from blemishes or wear, appearing practically unread. The dust jacket is also in smart condition, unclipped and as bright as the day it was published, illustrated by Paul Kidby. There is some bumping and wear to the spine ends with a small tear to the base of the spine, and a couple of small white marks to the top of the spine where the jacket has worn a little., but it is otherwise in excellent condition. In all, this is a particularly lovely example of this first edition, appearing barely read and in very smart condition. It is the thirty-seventh instalment from Pratchett s phenomenally successful series. It satirises football, and features Mustrum Ridicully setting up an Unseen University football team, with the Librarian in goal. As the football match approaches, four lives are entangled and changed forever. Because the thing about football - the important thing about football - is that it is not just about football. It would be the perfect addition to any book collection or an excellent gift for any lover of the Discworld series.
