Devoted wife of the controversial general, Douglas MacArthur, who was at his side aboard a PT boat when he left the Philippines ahead of a Japanese siege; she often represented him at official functions; prominent New York socialite and philanthropist. TNS, 1p, 5¼" X 7", New York, NY, 1965 January 1. Addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Zerk. Very good. Slight age toning along top margin. On letterhead of the Waldorf Astoria, where she lived for many years, MacArthur thanks this noted Milwaukee inventor/engineer for a Christmas card and adds "best wishes for this New Year." With original envelope.
