Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Indexed. Book is clean with a square, tight binding and clean pages. Exterior covers show some signs of shelf wear to the edges. Previous owner's name and date are written in red ink on the half title page. "See page 66-67, page 70-71" written in red ink on the title page. Book has minor wear on the edges that is difficult to see in the scans. A. N. Whitehead has said that the history of western philosophy is no more than a series of footnotes to Plato. It is doubtful whether western thought can maintain itself any longer in this "splendid isolation". The modern epoch is too sharply distinguished from its predecessors to allow of that, being charac-terised by a confrontation with the "unknown" the "outsiders" and their unaccustomed and unfamiliar, exotic or archaic worlds. For the discoveries of depth psychology and the emergence into History of non-European ethnic groups truly amount to the invasion by "outsiders" of the once closed field of the western consciousness. The book you see in the images is the actual book we have for sale. Why pay more? When you buy this book from us, you are helping to support a small brick and mortar family owned store. We have been curating our collection for three generations and currently have over 250,000 volumes in stock. Please feel free to call for more stock.
