Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Reissue of 1960 by Harcourt Brace & World. Very light wear to tips, corners, and edges of the book and just a bit more to the jacket the spine of which is sunned. Trade edition in a priced jacket, clean and unmarked.4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Looks to be identical to the controversial 1950 edition by Harcourt Brace. HB & W did not come into existence until 1960 the year this book was reissued. The only change other than the publisher is that the dust jacket price has risen from 2.00 to 3.75. The title caused great controversy during the "Red Scare" of the early 50's resulting in the book being pulled from bookstores nationwide. (Yes, things were that crazy) Nonetheless it was a Caldecott Honor Book in 1951. The team's next book, Finders Keepers, won the Caldecott Medal in 1952. Books and other items ship promptly with a tracking number and(generally over $15.00) jacket protectors if applicable. Clean recycled packing material will be used when possible. The Book Shed has a been a member of the Vermont Antiquarian Bookseller's Association since 1997.
