Two quarto pages (two quarto sheets, each with writing on recto only), on James Boyd's printed letterhead: "The Pilot, James Boyd, Publisher", Southern Pines, North Carolina, and dated May 7, 1943, to "Dear Eleanor". The letter is 19 lines in Boyd's pencil holograph, states, in part: "Here are all of Sherwood's letters that I have. You are most welcome to them of course. I don't know what connection may exist with The University of Penn. All well here & The Pilot making a little money. Love, Jim." The Sherwood Anderson letters referred to are not present here. At one point Anderson's wife Eleanor went of a quest to gather Anderson's letters to write a biography - we have seen similar letters from other of Anderson's correspondents.
