    Full-Leather. Condition: Very Good. J.M.W. Turner (illustrator). 1st Edition. Complete 2 Volume Set. Large format. No date (as usual with these volumes), but circa 1879. Embossed full leather bindings with 5 raised bands on spine. Giilt titles and decorations on front covers and spines. Gilt edges. Marbled endpapers. Remarkably well-preserved copies, with lightest rubbing only to leather bindings. Hinges strong. Tissue guards to each illustration. No sign of foxing or staining in either volume. All plates in beautiful condition.

Full blindstamped leather, giltstamped title, 5 raised bands, all edges gilt, interior gilt decoration, marbled endpapers, frontis with (ghosted) tissue. All leather treated for red rot and conditioned, wear to leather at corners (with board exposed), joints and raised edges. Tail of ffep starting to crack at gutter. Reader's digest biography of turner taped to first leaf with previous owner's inscription. Light tone to pages. Additional shipping may be required due to weight.

    Softbound. A collection of 116 of 128 steel engravings of Turner's works from this series housed in 38 (2/40 missing) blue paper folios with black lettering. With tissue guards and separate text plate for each engraving. All in a textured cinnamon board binding with black decoration. Oversize. 19 pounds. Will require extra postage. Volumes 1 and 2 together. Included is a list of engravings at the beginning of each volume. With an introductory biography of Turner. Each folio was published and sold as a subscription series, 3 engravings each, along with the tissue guards and annotation plates. 6 engravings missing; blue folders for parts 19 and 20 missing; cloth spine detached but laid in. Entire set is ex-lib. with cover labels and with small, blue inked lib. stamps on each plate, into the image. Many folders are faded and separated at spine; others are in VG- condition. Tissue guards and some text pages are varied in edge condition but with no major flaws or tears. Majority of plates are VG, but for the stamps.

    Condition: very good. First edition. Volumes 2 and 3 only. Undated but circa 1880. HB. Red textured cloth with leather spines and corners, gilt titles and decorations to spine, gilt borders to main covers; all edges gilt. Large Folio volumes. The two volumes contain 80 Superb full page plates engraved from Turner's paintings by various engravers.Maoinly British Views but with some seascapes and some mythological scenes. Each engraving is printed on card, with a guard leaf, and is followed by a half page of text by Monkhouse. Only volume 3 has a title page, and it has yellow endpapers, whereas vol.2 has marbled endpapers. (the title page of vol.2 was perhaps not present, as it does not appear to have been lost). Good condition overall. The contents are very good, with clean pages with only occasional handling marks or light brown spots, except for the prelims of Vol 3 which have heavier foxing; the plates are well printed sharp and bright. The binding is sound though the covers fair only and worn - but generally clean, with a few small spots or marks; the leather is rubbed and scuffed, especially to the spines, which have tears to the edges; gilt reasonaably bright. Very heavy volumes may require extra postage. Pictures available.

Joseph Mallord William Turner (Londra, 23 aprile 1775 Chelsea, 19 dicembre 1851) è stato un pittore e incisore inglese. Appartenente al movimento romantico, si può dire che il suo stile abbia posto le basi per la nascita dell'Impressionismo. Nonostante ai suoi tempi fosse visto come una figura controversa, attualmente è considerato l'artista che ha elevato l'arte della pittura paesaggistica ad un livello tale da poter competere con la maggiormente considerata pittura storica. Anche se è diventato famoso per le sue opere ad olio, Turner è anche stato uno dei più grandi maestri britannici nella realizzazione di paesaggi all'acquerello.
