Some edge wear, chipping and loss to top and bottom of jacket and spine, 1" loss to top of spine, corners rubbed with small loss, long closed tear to bottom front jacket, some spotting to endpapers and page fore edges, not price clipped (10s 6d), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy for its age in unfaded jacket. 256pp. Three women are released at daybreak from Holloway Prison. Made into a film in 1953 starring Yvonne Mitchell, Joan Collins, Kathleen Harrison, and Terence Morgan. Lee and producer Maurice Cowan also wrote the screenplay, based on this 1951 novel of the same name by John Brophy, dealing with the first 24 hours of freedom for three women released on probation from prison on the same morning. John Brophy (1899-1965), was an Anglo Irish soldier, journalist and author who wrote more than 40 books, mostly based on his experiences during World War I. A very scarce book.
