Lee and producer Maurice Cowan also wrote the screenplay, based on this 1951 novel of the same name by John Brophy, dealing with the first 24 hours of freedom for three women released on probation from prison on the same morning. John Brophy (1899-1965), was an Anglo Irish soldier, journalist and author who wrote more than 40 books, mostly based on his experiences during World War I. A very scarce book.
