Boards rubbed with shelf wear to edges, title page and last page lightly dusty, slight shaving to outer margins, affecting the first letters of the printed marginal notes in the Preface, pale age-browning and stains to margins, Chirk Castle noted in ink on front free endpaper; bookplate of David Laing Philips, old catalogue descriptions pasted to first pastedown with notes in pencil, neat ink notes to verso of free endpaper.
