Clean pages and illustrations. with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Liquid stains to some pages. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Hinges are slightly cracked with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Lettering is darkened.Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Visible wear and water marks to spine and boards.

Original Cloth. Condition: Good. Brock, H.M. (illustrator). First Edition. Very heavy fading to the spine and a three-quarter inch strip along the spine on the right edge of the rear panel. Otherwise the boards have only light surface wear and a little light rubbing to the edges. Browning to the page edges with a few scattered spots to the fore edges. Small crease to the top corners of a few pages with a tiny nick to the edge of one page. The pages are slightly browned with small stains on two pages but are otherwise unmarked. Illustrations by H.M. Brock - a coloured frontispiece, four other full page line drawings, smaller illustrations on the contents page, the page listing the illustrations and the first page of the text and also a few small illustrative sketches through the book. First printing. No jacket.

THERE IS A PENNED DEDICATION TO THE FFEP. THERE IS LIGHT FOXING THROUGHOUT. THE BINDING HAS LOOSENED SLIGHTLY BUT THE PAGES ARE ALL ATTACHED. PAGES GENERALLY APPEAR CLEAN AND CREASE FREE. ALL IN ALL A NICE EXAMPLE OF THIS BOOK.
