Full tree calf leather binding by Riviere and Son, with gilt titles to red and green leather labels to the spine, gilt decoration to other compartments. Spine with five raised bands, boards both with a lovely tree calf patina, gilt lattice work decoration to the board edges and gilt decoration to the outer board edges and inner gilt dentelles. Black and white illustrations and Maps, gelty tanned pages. Starting to crack to the top of the front joint but still intact. Gilt page edges. Title page is bright and clear, and has a frontispiece opposite. Text is bright and clear, gentle tanning throughout with some minor foxing. A very nice copy. See photos. Pagination: 672pp. Provenance: signature for Sam Hayne to the front free end paper. Approximately 10 inches (15.5cm) tall. Condition Report Externally Spine - very good condition - worn with minor marks and scratches. Joints - fair to good condition - sound, rubbed and worn, starting to crack to the top of the front joint. Corners - good condition - rubbed, bumped and worn. Boards - very good condition - beautifully patinated tree calf leather, minor marks. Page edges - good condition - top edge darkened, all gilt. Binding - good condition - attractive.
