Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. A very good hardback copy of the second edition, but lacking the Supplementary Appendix. The boards and spine are lightly marked (see the 3 images), but the binding is sound and secure and the contents are clean, bright and complete. Large folding map in pocket at rear. There is a small, old, private book plate on the front paste-down, and a previous ownership name at the top of the front free endpaper. Both the front and rear endpapers (pictured) are lightly marked. Overall, a very good hardback copy of the second edition, but with some light shelf wear and a couple of signs of previous ownership at the beginning of the volume. Collated and complete.

John Murray. London. 1892. First edition. Hardback, no DW. Original gray cloth with gilt decorations. Illustrated in black and white with maps to rear. Front pastedown contains bookplate of Scott Elliot of Ankleton (1895-1977), MP for Accrington, he and his wife were murdered by their butler. Boards worn and creasings to margins. Head and tail of spine crumpled with a long verticle crease. Bottom of spine has been torn and repaired. Inner hinge visible and pages browned otherwise a lovely copy.

A couple of small soil spots on th front cover, beveled edges, corners lightly bumped. PO book plate on inside front paste down. On ffep is written, "With the compliments of the author". Text block tight, pages clean.
