End papers not split but show signs of ex library pocket removal. Title page has perfed name and edges of volume have lib stamps. 289 pages are tight and clean. Last page has a lib stamp. Scarce volume has all correct points.

Cloth. Condition: Very Good +. The presumed 1927 true 1st American edition, borrowing its sheets directly from the 1927 1st British edition ("translated from the thirtenth French edition and with an introduction by Frederick Etchells"). (Also, using "Printed in Great Britain by Richard Clay & Sons, Limited, Bungay, Suffolk" alone on the copyright page). A solid, presentable copy to boot: tight and VG to VG+ in its tan cloth, with publisher's clean blue stripe running vertically down the front panel. Fascinating, unidentified, very Decoish bookplate to the front pastedown, otherwise very clean internally. Quarto, dozens and dozens of black-and-white plates and line-drawings throughout.
