Stiff dark red cloth boards soiled and rubbed, several small discolored spots along spine, front board's gilt stamped lettering and decorative border remain reasonably bright but not vibrant with modest dulling to gilt nearest fore-edge, some scuffing along board edges. 31 pages of text with preceded by 28 b/w images of Lookout Mountain, Sunset Rock, Missionary Ridge, Chattanooga, etc. on a single-sided foldout strip (approximate dimensions H 14.25cm x L 140cm) forming twelve leaves. Strong browning to rear free endpaper with lighter toning to other text leaves. Foldout image strip is completely detached from first image page which also serves as the front pastedown with second page having some red color bleed presumably from boards occurring along fore-edge margin; two initial leaves also have short tears along page folds with one lightly creased corner. Authorship is attributed to Hardie Brothers of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee but page 2 of the text section has a brief essay titled "To the Visitor" by W.C. Dickey. Remaining text features a review of local landmarks, describes a mountain ascent via the standard gauge railroad, provides a summary of the November 24, 1863 conflict, and concludes with an unattributed 5 page poem titled "Battle of Lookout Mountain." OCLC cites a mere two copies held by member libraries. Only a good copy of a rather scarce tourist guidebook publication.…
