The town of Sand, hard by Thunderbird Mesa, was pretty well under the thumb of Chilt Lane, who scoffed at the law and collected ranches as if they were cherries. And the townsmen were too old and tired to protest, until a young freighter whose line was threatened decided it was high time to buck the town boss.
