No names, tears or soil seen in the tight, crisp, age-toned 218pp text. Original, un-clipped jacket has small losses, closed tears and sunning on backstrip, but is… 85% complete and displays well in new mylar. The story of a pair of young boys who are friends and train up a colt named Thunder, belonging to one of the boys' fathers for racing to compete at the Babylon Handicap. The other boy's father was Man O'War's groom and shared plenty of stories of his exploits with Big Red. There are many things to thrill and captivate the young reader: the horse farm and riding academy, the bringing up and training of Thunder, the carnivals where the boys put on shows to earn money for Thunder's upkeep, a forest fire and the great Babylon Handicap.
